I'm Rob McLamore — President of Great Lakes Fund Solutions and a hands-on builder of software for the alternative investments space and beyond. I'm based in the Chicago area, where I've spent the better part of two decades at the intersection of private markets and technology.
I don't separate the business side from the technical side. The same person who manages SEC compliance and investor recordkeeping is also shipping Next.js applications and building data platforms. That combination is unusual and, I've found, genuinely useful.
The fund administration side
Great Lakes Fund Solutions is an SEC-registered transfer agent and back-office fund administrator. We serve alternative investment sponsors — real estate, energy, oil and gas limited partnerships — handling investor recordkeeping, capital transactions, regulatory compliance support, and fund-level reporting.
It's operational, compliance-driven work that requires precision. Running it well means understanding both the regulatory environment and the technology that supports it.
The builder side
Alongside the fund work, I build software. That started with internal tooling — document workflow systems, investor portals, operational dashboards — and has expanded into external platforms. AltIQ Network is a private markets networking and data platform I'm building for the alternative investment space. PayDirt Props is a sports prop research platform built around model probabilities and transparent result tracking.
I use AI throughout the development process — for architecture, code generation, and iteration. It's not a novelty; it's how I ship faster and smarter.
